The Content Builder ("The Brain")
The Cubic Carousel Builder is the intelligence center of your app. It provides a drag-and-drop workspace that separates strategy sources from active slot sequences, giving merchants granular control over product recommendations.
1. Source Cards (Fallback Priority Deck)
Section titled “1. Source Cards (Fallback Priority Deck)”Located at the top of the builder dashboard, this deck houses all recommendation strategies and custom collections:
- Strategy Reservoir: Drag cards from this deck into active storefront slots.
- Fallback Priority: The order of cards in this deck dictates their fallback priority. If a slot runs out of matching products (for example, if a product only has 1 related item), the engine cascades down this priority list, guaranteeing that your carousel is never empty.
2. Recommendation Strategies Reference
Section titled “2. Recommendation Strategies Reference”| Strategy | Logic & Behavior |

| Related Products | Queries Shopify’s Storefront Recommendation API (intent=related) based on purchase patterns. |
| Same Collection | Detects the collection of the active product and pulls other items from it. |
| Similar Tags | Scans product tags, ranking catalog items by highest number of shared tags. |
| Recently Viewed | Uses local browser storage to show items the shopper recently browsed on your store. |
| Smart Tag Match | Matches items sharing specific key-tag: identifiers (e.g. key-tag:leather-matching). |
| Price: Low to High | Queries catalog products sorted by lowest variant price ascending. |
| Price: High to Low | Queries catalog products sorted by lowest variant price descending. |
| Latest Arrivals | Displays newly added products sorted by publication date. |
| Random Rotation | Shuffles products randomly as a complete global fallback. |
3. Carousel Slot Sequence (Active Track)
Section titled “3. Carousel Slot Sequence (Active Track)”Below the Source Cards is the numbered sequence representing your live carousel track (up to 8 slots):
- Drag & Drop: Drag any strategy card from the deck and drop it into a numbered slot.
- Sequence Order: The storefront loads products starting from Slot 1, then Slot 2, Slot 3, etc.
- Removal: Click
×on any card to remove it; remaining slots auto-collapse to eliminate gaps.
